Meet Mariam Khan

Mariam Khan

Mariam is a multimedia/digital reporter for the Gray Television Washington Bureau, formally called Lilly Broadcasting.

A graduate of the Medill School of Journalism, Mariam received her Master of Science in Journalism degree in June 2013, with a concentration in broadcast and video journalism.

She is a jack of all trades: she shoots, edits, writes, produces, books, and handles all technology for the bureau. She is also the creator of

Mariam reported for the Medill News Service as an urban and demographics reporter in Chicago, Illinois. Also at Medill, Mariam participated in the Washington Program, where she covered national security, defense, and foreign affairs for various media outlets in Washington, D.C. During this time, she was also a press and public policy intern for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Mariam is also a graduate of the Ohio State University, and has a bachelor’s in Public Affairs Journalism, with minors in Women’s Studies and International Relations & Diplomacy. She is proud to call Columbus, Ohio home.

She is fluent in Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, and she can read Arabic.

Her work has appeared in United Press International, Gannett,  Military Times, McClatchy, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Medill Reports, Medill News Service, CAN-TV, The Lantern, WAMU 88.5, and the Times of Northwest Indiana.
